Just starting, read the guides but now I am stuck.

So, I've downloaded the game and played quite a bit; few hours, but I am totally stuck about many things, and hopefully someone can tell me where to look for these.

1) I have the english patch; but not everything is translated: most of the text for skills, items and everything else is in Chinese; only few stats in the character panel are translated; and few things in the items (like level needed and such). Did I do something wrong installing it?

2) I've acquired my armor (I choose Cygnus); now I am on an island doing quests, among them I saw Pandora...what kind of setup has this game? Is SS canon? Most of the things that I am doing are quite new to me (like fighting weird ghosts with a sort of pegasus armor, and what appears to be spectre). Is there a lore description for the game? It doesn't look like it is based on the original story.

3) Not sure if it matters, but can you put on and take off your armor?

4) How crafting works, and what should I keep and what should I sell? So far it was intuitive with items, I keep the ones with best stats and sell the others, but beyond that, I have a ton of things that I have no clue about. Among these, boxes which are grey, gems and books. I have read the gold cloth guide, so I am aware that the blood vials are used for that; but that's where my understand ends :)

5) How do you figure out your level? Also I should have a cygnus armor, I wear it, but I can't see it in the screen where you should see your armor to increase its level. I also have few gold coffins for gold armor (there was actually a quest when I arrived on the island, where I had to choose, I believe, my gold cloth path? I was in a room with the 12 and I picked Virgo; then I was moved back to the original area). I ignore what they are and I assume that these are parts for the gold cloth?

Sorry for the many questions; but the game is just hard to grasp when you have no clue of what each thing means :) So far I am playing but I wish that I could understand what is going on...I am just pushing buttons so far :)

I am not sure of the status of your english patch, since I use the French one, but mainly what you have to do is just to take what is in the archive and copy it to the root folder of your SSO installation. You must, of course replace the currently existing files.
If you see somethings written in english, then that does mean the patch is working.
Keep in mind that not ALL is translated, it is still a game intended for Chinese people after all.

Actually it is based on the world, there are some instances (comparable to dungeons) in which you can replay the original story like the 12 houses, but apart from that you are just a knight amongst others, which means you are not Seiya, Shun or anybody else, but you will meet them during your adventures. So the storyline follows up some places and some actions that happened, but it is original.

You can. You must go to the Cloth menu, and then you can either double click on your armor, or use one of the 2 buttons below. One will open interface to upgrade your armor, while the other will put your cloth on and off you.

For the items, you can also "break" them which gives some items that you will need to upgrade your stuff. You should research that.

For the crafting, try to have a look around the forum, eventually try to join a guild, they can provide bunch of useful tips. Basically there is a NPC in the sanctuary that will provide you the "Skills" to craft. Then you open the craft interface to do it. You must have the material that is either provided during the questing or bought from a merchant (You cannot buy everything from the merchant), and then you will be able to craft which will give you Craft XP points to get some more complex recipes. Then you will evolve from that point.

For the gold cloth quest, please check on the forum, you shall find it.
Your level is written on top left part of the screen, next to your face.

Not sure about that. Could you post up a screenshot ?
Because at the place you can upgrade your armor, you should see the totem rotating and being able to upgrade your armor as well, so I do not really get it...

Thanks Mac-fly; it cleared a bit the issues.

So if I see some English, it means that somehow it is working. I wish there was a total conversion for the quests and such, but I understand that it is almost impossible to see this done. I do not speak Chinese; I may help with Spanish and Italian if needed; since they are 2 of the languages that I speak (besides English, which is my second language, but you all speak it better than me :) ). I don't even remember where did I take the patch from; it was a file that had to be copied in the game dir, altho I see that the game updated last weekend, so it may be possible that the patch is already obsolete. I would be OK with any patch that translate from Chinese...any neo-latin language is easier to understand for me than Chinese :)

I hope that PWE will port the game to EU or USA; there is a huge community about Saint Seiya, especially in France, Italy and South America...I wonder why they ignore this fact; they can even re-route the Chinese server and see if people actually play the game...I discovered the game by mistake, and I bet that if it was better advertised, people would express interest in it. Anyway; I am digressing.

So the original story from the manga is there? I just played up to Lvl 24...don't remember, and there was nothing canon; there was a fight with Aiolia VS Hypnos/Thanatos which was totally out of the blue (but the game looks fun, even the made up stuff is fun to play). I guess I need to figure out how to play these dungeon. I am happy that I am not one of the 5 protagonist; because you would end up walking around with clones of the 5 heroes all the time; while in this way you can customize your character (to a certain extent...they still look all the same because they use the look of the characters from the manga, so the variations are not that many, before that you start to look like one of the characters in a different armor :) ).

Actually even if I wear the Cygnus armor, I have no armor in my armor window....I can't see it, nor it is displayed. I have no clue why. I wear it, I see that I get the diamond dust special attack, but I can't see it as armor to upgrade. So far I found no other armor; but I assume you gotta buy them, they are not drops, right? (still reading the various guides, but they are very sparse...I wish there was something like lvl 1-15 walktrough; teaching about things as they become available; I am starting to write one, maybe it can be useful to other players).
So there is no way for me to actually take it off. I have attached a screenshot to show you what I see on my screen.

I was successful in finding how to decompose the items; altho even purple items gave me the usual red bottle and cherries...can't find exactly what are used for; they look like regular consumable items, like food. Should I decompose stuff or sell it?

I did check the gold cloth thread; but it talks about pieces; while I have 3 boxes, not pieces of the armor....I have choose Virgo as gold cloth, and I believe I am gaining faction points with Virgo, but I can't tell where do you check for that.

Also I still see no level close to my face; as you can see from the picture attached. I know which level I am, because it is displayed in the login screen when you select your character...other than that; I see no level numbers :(

OK so a bit of advice regarding your screenshots and everything.

You can make screenshot by using "Print screen" button, will be better than to take a picture of your screen.
Then, about your cloth screen, it looks strange to me. Very possibly there might be an issue with the patch you found. It seems you are not sure of the source so I would advise you to download this one :

About the items you mentioned to decompose, the cherries will give you XP, so you can use them at once. About some kind of crystals that you will get, it will be useful to upgrade your stone, your emblem and the ring that are in the low part of your character screen.
This also needs a little explanation, but basically the place where you can break up you stuff is also the place where you can upgrade those things by going to the second tab. If you unequip the stone for example, and put it to the upgrade screen, then you will have the prerequisite materials to make the upgrade.
It will give you more HP, more attack, and things like that.

For the quests, most of us don't get them... We are just clicking on the blue hyperlinks and then following up.

I will try to make better pictures with the print screen...I use a mac, so the quickest way to bring a picture on the mac, where I post from, was to just take the picture of the computer screen.

So your screen show the cloth, while mine is not? That sucks big time....I will try removing the patch and put in the one from the link that you mentioned. I downloaded one from a link that I forgot; it was not on a forum, I just googled it and got the download link. Hopefully it will work with the new patch.

So gotta update it every week? Yikes :) I stop by daily anyway, so no big deal.

So I can just use the cherry to get xp? I thought that they were some sort of food to replenish your stamina or such.

What about the books? got few of them, and also few packages; which once used become grey and you can't open them anymore...is that to limit the number of packages that you may open a day?

I was wondering why I couldn't upgrade anything...I need to unequip it first; makes sense :)
What about the 3rd and 4th tab in that screen?

I understand a bit of what is going on, playing the game, but I wish I could read what they say :) Guess I will have to wait for the non -Asia version. Thanks!

I was not aware of a Mac client, don't you have a print screen button ? Otherwise maybe it is worth it to google for that...

No need to remove the patch, or eventually you can repair the installation, by hitting a button on the launcher of the game. It is on the right side possibly the last or before the last. Need to try.
Otherwise, you just download the patch and install it, if some files are crippled, they shall be replaced normally.

Nope... It is XP, that is all.

For the books it will depend. Try to select and maybe shift - Right click or ctrl - right click on them, they give a kind of reputation. About the shortcut, I am not sure anymore. But they will open an interface and you have to fill that in. There will be a helper to get that done.
For the packages, there is no limit to the number you can open, BUT you are getting gifts for every level gap, and everytime you get a new gift for a new level gap, so if you got everything up to level 35 maybe the next one can be opened at level 45, and when you reach that you'll be able to open it.

About upgrading your armor you do not need to equip or unequip it, but you'll see that when you can see your clothes.
About the 3 things I mentioned, you do.
Regarding the 2 last tabs I am not sure anymore. I am confident that the last tab is about binding an equipment so that you will not be able to sell it or exchange it anymore.
For the 3rd tab, I cannot say. I'll need to check that up.

I think so...

I didn't explain myself correctly...there is no Mac client :) I use OS X since it is my main computer; the Windows machine is connected to the tv in the living room; I use it just for games basically, so if I need a screenshot; I have to turn it on; then either use the usb key to grab the screenshot, or set up the network connection with the mac ( I keep them separated, since anything goes on the Win machine).

Tried the books, one opened a quest where I had to jump on top of a building to grab a vase; the others just open text.

I did a whole system check and the armor now is there; I can see the right screen. I started to upgrade it, altho I have plenty of blue stones, but not enough blood; not the right one needed at least (got 40 of a different type, which can't be used). This thou caused the english patch to be removed, since the game updated to 47...oh well

As an advice, try to save up the blood for later. Try to only rely on the crystal at first until you can have an in-depth discussion with somebody experienced about a strategy.
You cannot have those thing at will and so it can be very annoying when you need to upgrade at upper level.

About your screenshot.... OK I see, but that sounds like the hell of a configuration you have. Why don't you connect to the forum from your PC.

For the books that are text they might be the books you have to do Ctrl - Right click on it to absorb them as I mentioned.

GAh, already used it all; at least the one needed for the bronze cloth; on my only cloth. I still have a ton of vials with blood for other cloth types I assume (they won't be available when I upgrade my main cloth).

Is there a way to get more crystals with a decent continuity? I just get them as random drop from quests I believe.

I don't connect from the pc because it basically opens only ports to the various games that I play; to avoid to get infected (like it happens mostly to everyone), I have decided to just firewall the whole thing, closing port 80, which is the main browser port; and any other port that is not needed. I do not surf on that computer; it is basically like a console used only to play games :) Sounds extreme, but I am sick and tired to get all sort of stuff on my computer; so if a game is PC only it goes on that computer, otherwise I play it on the mac, which has virtually no problems, regarding attacks and spyware (it has some but in proportion with a windows system, is not even worth being considered).

I believe that there are different items: some books say something, some others start missions I believe, and some gets absorbed. I am looking at the various items list on the forum, to figure out what the heck do I have :)

About crystals, if you go in the instances (dungeons) then you will be able to get some crystals. Anyway it is very possible that they are in an evolved form (like a triangle) and that you need to transform them.
To do so you would need to go to an guy with white beard and brown robe around the place where Kido is so that you can transform your triangles into the kind of crystals you do need for the main armor.

I cannot give you the very exact location, but when in front of Kido, go to the left you should see the priestess, an old man with blue robe, a young man, a middle aged man, and very possibly the guy I am speaking of.
Make sure your crystals are in your inventory, so that you can make the exchange.
